โEducation is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.โ - Nelson Mandela
When I first became the MP for Kitui North, the entire constituency had only two secondary schools. There was no CDF, but we knew our children needed schools. Through Harambee, we raised money together and built them.
My late mother, Mama Pauline Kalonzo, played an important part in that journey and strengthened my belief in the value of education.
That belief has stayed with me throughout my public life, from my time at the Ministry of Education, where we laid the groundwork for Free Primary Education, to the establishment of HELB, the Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation and the many education initiatives we have supported over the years.
Today, I was honoured to hand over a new school bus to Mama Pauline Kalonzo Girls School in Kyuso.
It is especially meaningful to do this at a school that carries my best friendโs name. I hope the bus will make a difference to our girls and make their journey to school safer and easier.
Our children deserve every opportunity to learn, grow and achieve their dreams. That is why we must continue to invest in their education.
