Absolutely thrilled to see my paper comparing snail mucus compositions and functions published in @NatureComms
If you’re interested in slime, snails, materials, genetics, or otherwise insanely cool biology give it a read!

@Yungstedt@PondHQShop@PepiDoesScience Ahahahahaha excellent stuff, I (badly) drew some stuff over the years maybe I’ll make a themed sticker set in the future
@TR_McGee Thanks for the shoutout!!
Mucus has so many WILD uses and I love talking about it, but I can’t take all the credit since this is a huge group effort!
If you like that example I definitely recommend looking into research by @DimitriDeheyn
My dissertation defense is this Friday @ 1PM!
The session and livestream are open for anyone interested, so come hear me talk about slime! It’s gonna be a real spectacle

@S_Insley_H@IvanKreilkamp Happy you think so!
In fact, our group is working (and already published a paper) on creating mucus in the lab that replicate their natural counterparts. The exciting part is deciding which applications to try because more are being discovered every day.

Also extremely pleased to see one of my longest term projects during my postdoc in press! This work focused on characterizing different snail mucins, and so much time and effort went into this by all of the coauthors, especially @SlimeSupreme https://t.co/cSl3Rq3nq3

I was on a field excursion with some crocodile keepers and I told them I do molecular biology and they said “man that’s chemistry hahahaha” like it was an insult and i haven’t been hurt like that since
90% of molecular biology is pipetting very tiny amounts of clear liquids from one container to another. The other 10% is doing math on paper towels.
Some days I think I should have listened to my mother and become a wizard.
