🇺🇸🇨🇳 IS SILICON VALLEY SECRETLY RUNNING ON CHINESE AI?
Silicon Valley’s AI parade looks shiny, until you check what’s under the hood.
Forget hype. Silicon Valley is quietly building its hottest startups on Chinese AI.
Cursor? Might be running on DeepSeek from Beijing.
Cognition AI? Apparently using Zhipu’s https://t.co/uV2XqjG8Sw.
Airbnb? Skipped OpenAI. Went with Alibaba’s Qwen.
Even Sam Altman’s old CTO is now launching tools based on Chinese models.
Why?
Because they’re cheaper, faster, open-source, and honestly... just better for devs trying to ship something that works.
Meta’s LLaMA was king in 2023. Now Qwen has more downloads. A lot more.
Like, 385 million vs 346 million more.
Meanwhile, Washington’s waving flags and slapping export bans.
But Silicon Valley? Already switched sides, not for ideology, but for efficiency.
The real question isn’t “Who will win the AI race?”
It’s “Why is America’s tech elite running it on someone else’s engine?”
And let’s be clear, this isn’t just about startups trying to save a buck.
It’s about who controls the infrastructure that will power everything from search engines to soldiers.
And the longer the U.S. pretends “open source” means “under control,” the more ground it quietly loses.
The market says it’s betting on patriotism.
But the code says otherwise.
This isn’t just capitalism. It’s a Cold War in your algorithm.
