Powerful interview, with an uncharacteristically emotional Jeremy Scahill. But how can one not be emotional at this point. Nothing justifies the butchering of children day after day, weeks and months. I am also profoundly disturbed and disgusted by what we have become.
An Israeli air strike into the heart of Beirut just now, not in a Hezbollah area but in a Sunni neighborhood a few blocks from my family’s house. Not that it matters - Sunni, Shia, Maronite, Orthodox, Druze, they’re all innocents being mowed down by a genocidal regime and their armorers in chief Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Just today Israel killed 109 people and wounded 364 others in attacks across Lebanon.

I felt really strongly about this answer. And reading through some of the other candidates' answers I'm concerned that we are truly missing the big picture here. Everyday Portlanders understand it's cruel and irresponsible to jail homeless people before providing real options.
After days of staying in the streets, and we decided to move from Al Zaytoun neighbourhood, my little daughter is asking me: “Where will we go?”

Breaking: Journalist Ibrahim Muhareb was killed after his body was found near Hamad City, northwest of Khan Younis. He had been missing since yesterday when Israeli forces targeted a group of journalists in the area.
I heard from a friend in Gaza. She told me some of what we know - that what is happening in Gaza is beyond human comprehension. That Israel is targeting schools and shelters with US missiles and committing massacres of civilians. She told me she is afraid, not of death, but that she will die in pieces, that someone will gather her in pieces.
She doesn’t want a bag. She wants a full shroud, 192 cm long. She wants her whole body. Arms, feet, heart, head, her 10 fingers and 10 toes and her eyes too.
Shouldn’t she have these? She is 32 with four children, two have been killed. Do you remember what you wanted when you were 32? She wants a grave and she wants it to be to be in a real cemetery, not a street, not a sidewalk. This is what she wants from this world.
"I am not ashamed to stand in front of the camera and say I am hungry due to the famine. Many children in Gaza ask me for something to eat, not knowing that I, like them, can't sleep at night because of hunger."
-journalist Ismail Al-Ghoul, killed by Israeli army in #Gaza today!
