Muslim people are an integral group that has roots in South African history dating back to 1652.
I’ve lived among Muslim people my entire life. So have my parents, as did theirs. We live as one community.
Nothing is being forced. We know a psyop when we see one. 🖕🏽
Idk who needs to hear this, but the same constitution that allows me to practice my Christianity in peace is also afforded to Muslims.
This is not your mother's country
GUYS, in all this halal hysteria and Christian Zionism debate, PLEASE don't forget Reverend Kenneth Meshoe! 😭😂
Because if we're discussing foreign religious influence in South African politics, this is where things get REALLY interesting.
And I'm bringing RECEIPTS!
1. Israel Allies Foundation - Its official website identifies Kenneth Meshoe, @A_C_D_P leader and South African MP, as chair of its South African parliamentary caucus. This is an international pro-Israel political advocacy network operating across multiple legislatures.
2. ACDP's 2024 election manifesto - The party pledged to restore full diplomatic relations with Israel and relocate South Africa's embassy to Jerusalem.
3. November 2023 - Meshoe publicly defended Israeli territorial claims by invoking God's biblical promise to Abraham and his descendants.
4. February 2024 - In Parliament, Meshoe invoked Isaiah 54:17 and warned the ANC of divine consequences over its position towards Israel.
Now, let's be clear... Meshoe has every constitutional right to his Christian beliefs, political associations and support for Israel. But those beliefs and associations are not exempt from public scrutiny.
Here's my question:
If some South Africans are having existential crises over halal certification on a loaf of bread, why aren't we equally interested in the documented participation of South African politicians in international religious-political lobbying networks? 😭
What are the objectives of these alliances? What political positions do they promote? How transparent are their activities and relationships?
I'm not alleging illegal funding or wrongdoing. I'm pointing to publicly documented political affiliations and asking perfectly legitimate accountability questions.
And let's remember... South Africa is a constitutional democracy. Our foreign policy must be debated through our Constitution, democratic institutions and international legal obligations, not treated as predetermined by one politician's interpretation of biblical prophecy.
You can't scrutinise Muslim religious influence with a microscope while treating Christian Zionist political influence as constitutionally untouchable.
That, ladies and gentlemen, is called applying the same standard to EVERYONE!
If should be a much bigger story that @geordinhl thinks Navi Pillay's work doing *literally her job* is divisive. She's just been named a Nobel Peace Prize winner, and the 2nd biggest party is unable to congratulate her cause she made a finding based on evidence?
@NandosSA please fix your app, it's been doing this for over 6 months now. It's been actually quite useless, and yes I cleared my app cache, uninstalled it and downloaded it again, to no avail
