The erosion of promise to universal education and access for the poorest children comes through most clearly.
Consolidation is an exercise in resource optimization perhaps but several children simply stop going to school when the nearest one shuts. SC, ST, EWS worst hit. #NITI
A recent NITI Aayog report said some 94,000 government schools were closed over the past decade, an average of 25 a day, contributing to a 2.26 crore decline in government school enrolment. The government schools’ share of total enrolment has fallen from 71% in 2005 to 49.24% in 2024-25.

@shoeburts@dimitrisp997@Osint613@grok My grandma was hit by a bike crossing the street and broke her left leg . That same day, 500 kms away, my grandpa fell from a roof and broke his right leg. Two accidents, two legs, one date. Surely the universe was conspiring. There has to be a correlation… right? #earthquake
@distressedmush Fixed hurdles do look inadequate when BB credit yields alone can clear them.
Do think investors may still prefer the simplicity of fixed hurdles, managers benefiting from rate cycles notwithstanding.
MY FRIEND IS STILL PAYING FOR GMAIL STORAGE.
I told him to do this before.
He went from 14.9/15 GB to 6 GB in a single afternoon.
Hope this helps you ↓

People think I do all the cooking for myself and my husband because I have some trad belief that men don’t belong in the kitchen. The truth is that I am Italian and my husband is English, and I do not believe any English person of any gender belongs in my kitchen.
oh, this reminds me a draft note I never got around to posting (unintended risks of herding into private credit)
Picture this:
-an imaginary $100m balanced fund has a 10% allocation to private credit
-a market crash happens, portfolio falls to $50m, your allocation just went up to 20% (no daily mark to market)
-market crash triggers redemptions (need + fear), investors pull $20m, your allocation is now 33%
2 things
1. if you have mechanical rebalancing rules (investment policies/governance), you're a forced seller of private credit -- and possibly at the worst time
2. would you be comfortable running more than 3x the initial allocation to private credit?
And the third thing... this is just one hypothetical portfolio, imagine this is everyone
All of a sudden, after enjoying years of insto allocators herding into private credit to get stable high returns, private credit managers start receiving massive redemption requests -- this CLOSES the private credit market (no more inflows = no more cash to lend, that would be awkward for short-term private credit e.g. working capital, receivables/factoring, etc... and it would compound any broader credit tightening and economic downdrafts). Meanwhile, what do you do if you're a private credit manager facing redemption requests that are greater than your liquid/cash holdings and coupon/maturity flows? By definition you can't sell... and if you can find a buyer, it's going to be with a massive haircut
All of a sudden that holy grail asset that's supposed to be churning out high interest income and dampen perceived portfolio volatility has turned to liquidity hell
Tail risk for sure, but the more herding into private credit we see, the more likely it becomes, and the more time that passes, the greater risk that an eventual unthinkable turn of events make their way into the timeline
Not a reason to not allocate to it, but a scenario that needs to be pondered, acknowledged, and factored in.
Apropos the quote from The Newsroom "Anchors having an opinion isn't a new phenomenon."
Doing it to milk sentiment for personal and professional gains should be abhorrent
A box of Darjeeling tea, a tie, a kurta, a papier-mâché Ashokan pillar artefact, and honey from Jammu and Kashmir were among the things that US vice-president JD Vance and his family bought from the Central Cottage Industries Emporium in Delhi on Monday, officials at the Emporium said.

I just learned of the passing of Pope Francis. My heart goes out to the millions of Christians all over the world who loved him.
I was happy to see him yesterday, though he was obviously very ill. But I’ll always remember him for the below homily he gave in the very early days of COVID. It was really quite beautiful.
May God rest his soul.

Stephen Graham’s #Adolescence offers more than a gripping narrative—it mirrors a world fractured by algorithm-fed echo chambers. @vanitakohlik draws a poignant link between our shrinking shared realities and the quiet erosion of collective experience in the digital age.
