Palantir CEO Alex Karp on what customers actually want, the real business of frontier labs, and the importance of open source models:
“What the technical customers want is control over their compute, their models, their data stack, and their alpha. They want to know they own the means of production, and it's not being transferred to someone else.”
"Who owns the data? Are the prompts secure? Is this being transferred to you?"
"If it was so valuable, and I can make you a billion dollars, wouldn't I say I'll make you a billion dollars and I want 30%? Why are they charging for tokens if it's so valuable?"
"Cuando el enemigo te lleva a luchar contra él con las armas que él ha elegido, a utilizar el lenguaje que él ha inventado, a hacerte buscar soluciones entre las reglas que él ha impuesto, ya has perdido todas las batallas, incluida la que podrías haber ganado"
Sun Tzu
We tax cigarettes to reduce smoking.
We tax alcohol to reduce drinking.
We tax fuel to reduce driving.
What do you think happens when you tax employing people and running a business?
Egypt forgot how to build the pyramids.
Rome forgot how to build the aqueducts. Some still carry water today. What they built still stands. Neither civilization remembers how they did it.
Musk: “You look at great civilizations like ancient Egypt, and they were able to make the pyramids, and they forgot how to do that.”
Musk: “And the Romans, they built these incredible aqueducts. They forgot how to do it.”
No army invaded them. The knowledge just stopped getting used, and the moment it did, it was gone.
Same collapse. Compressed into fifty years instead of a thousand.
Musk: “In 1969, we were able to send somebody to the moon… Then the space shuttle retired, and the United States could take no one to orbit.”
Musk: “People are mistaken when they think that technology just automatically improves… it will, by itself, degrade.”
Capability doesn’t sit in a vault. It only exists inside the people doing the work right now.
The second they stop, it doesn’t pause.
It disappears.
That should not scare you. It should focus you.
Nobody loses a civilization to war. They lose it the moment they stop building.
Nobody is owed the future. It belongs to whoever keeps building it.
This is the reason why I have opposed big governments, which can become corrupt more easily than private companies. Government officials usually do not take responsibility for the bad outcomes that result from their policies. At least, owners of private companies can be investigated by authorities.
But how can we effectively audit or hold accountable government corruption when those in power control so many aspects of society?

The South Korean government has allegedly sent an official letter to SK Corporation, pressuring the company to change its decision to reward employees for high performance. They are demanding that the company share its profits with the government.
Are we living in a liberal democratic country?
"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence & determination alone are omnipotent."
Calvin Coolidge
30th U.S. President
@Scobleizer There are always momentary dips, even in a rapidly growing economy.
The productivity gains from AI and robotics are so enormous, however, that the macro trend is overwhelmingly up.
NEW: BPI research reveals that a Marxist-Leninist group with documented ties to China has been a critical mobilizer in efforts that have blocked or delayed $23.6 billion in AI investment in the US.
Its scalps include 10 data center moratoria, 1 permanent data center ban, and 4 rejected or scrapped AI projects.
In Part II of our foreign influence investigation, BPI exposes the Party for Socialism and Liberation (or PSL) as the political arm of Shanghai-based Neville Singham, and lays bare a national campaign launched by the party to stop America’s data center buildout.
Singham is the subject of multiple federal investigations into his reported ties to the CCP. Our research uncovers the anti-data-center organizing of his activist vehicle, the PSL, across 21 campaigns in 14 states, in roles ranging from lead organizer to one member of a broader coalition.
This report adds to the mounting evidence that China and its surrogates are committed to stopping America’s data center buildout so that Beijing can gain the advantage in the AI race.
so Trump's annual financials came out today
he made $635M off his memecoin
then he bought a minimum of $1M of stock in companies like $AMZN $PLTR $MSFT $NVDA and $AAPL
JD Vance's report came out and he only owns the S&P, Nasdaq and Dow Jones 💀
i don't think we are ever going to have a President this intimately tied to the stock market and individual names within that stock market
This is one of the crucial milestones for Tesla. They are expressing confidence in self-driving technology by removing steering wheels and pedals. The remaining problems are just regulations and people’s perceptions.
