@tha_rami Some years ago I did one of those ridiculous quizzes, this one about 'what you hate the most'. My result was automatic flush toilets. Until that point, I hadn't particularly thought about em. After that point, I developed a sincere and deep frustration at their design flaws.
@mogwai_poet The best options I’ve seen use a preexisting service but are an additional client or hook that does encryption prior to upload.
There are also proper backup solutions that will do client-side encryption.
@jaimewoo Yeah unfortunately the power port is a super common failure point on a lot of devices just because it’s the thing to see the most physical action/use. Companies can refurb em pretty easily (trained folks have the tools and know-how), but it’s a pain for an end user to repair.
@jaimewoo You’ll have to seriously balance spending a day with very steady hands, cursing a lot, and getting really lucky vs. the cost of just buying a new thing I fear :(.
@LouisGorenfeld Did you see the new elektron digitone?
I dig the reface a lot and it’ll be useful as a keyboard, but just for flexibility the digitone has it (slightly) beat.
Anyway, I hope we as a society can one day gain the insight needed to properly encourage others to think critically about their favorite things, and to accept that compromised works can still be delightful despite their flaws.
