Blimey @KemiBadenoch has absolutely rattled the pants off of Reform. They are attacking her constantly and even clipping up out of context videos to do so. Considering she is the leader of a so called dead party you have got to ask yourselves why they are doing this. 🤔
Firstly, @RishiSunak and now @KemiBadenoch discussing AI. It’s surprising how few politicians are talking about it. Our party must lead the way.
Both are right that we must urgently review job pathways for young people as AI is reshaping the world of work
I watched the full interview this morning and thought it was fantastic. Elliott Bewick is a very talented young man and should be commended for asking such interesting and varied questions and for challenging Kemi on a range of issues.
In return Kemi more than lived up to these challenges and gave detailed answers and insight into Britishness, ethnicity, university, aspiration and so much more.
Give it a watch, I’ll put the link in a post below. 👇
Young people are hungry for answers! So I spoke to them about:
🇬🇧 What being British means to me
🦁 Why British culture matters
🏠 Why young people feel locked out of the future
⚡ Why aspiration has collapsed
🚫 Why identity politics is poison
📈 The New Deal that Conservatives are offering the next generation and why Conservatives are talking honestly about growth, culture and national confidence.
Here’s the first clip👇
Some experimentation around "measurement-first meta-counterfactualism" :)
Capitalism is not the ideology of markets; it is the mechanical measurement of utility through voluntary exchange.
Epistemology is not the philosophy of knowledge; it is the mechanical measurement of belief against reality.
Science is not the ideology of truth; it is the disciplined measurement of claims through reproducible contact with reality.
Conservatism is not the ideology of the past; it is the disciplined measurement of which inherited structures still carry survival value.
Democracy is not the ideology of equality; it is the mechanical measurement of legitimacy through distributed consent.
Law is not the ideology of justice; it is the mechanical measurement of acceptable coercion through rule-bound procedure.
Morality is not the ideology of goodness; it is the mechanical measurement of harm, trust, reciprocity, and social survivability.
Norms are not arbitrary social rules; they are the mechanical measurement of behavioural fit through approval, shame, imitation, exclusion, and repetition.
Language is not a container of meaning; it is the mechanical measurement of communicable distinctions between minds.
Grammar is not merely rules of speech; it is the mechanical measurement of which meaning-transformations remain coherent.
Physics is not the ideology of matter; it is the mechanical measurement of possible transformations under constraint.
Time is not merely a pre-existing dimension; it is the mechanical measurement of change through memory.
Memory is not storage of the past; it is the mechanical measurement of recurrence that remains useful for future action.
Logic is not the doctrine of reason; it is the mechanical measurement of which inferences preserve coherence.
Mathematics is not the invention of symbols; it is the mechanical measurement of formal consistency across possible structures.
Evolution is not the ideology of progress; it is the mechanical measurement of viability through differential persistence.
Consciousness is not a substance inside the world; it is the mechanical measurement of salience into navigable dimensions.
Qualia is not decoration added to information; it is the internal felt aspect of measurement as dimensionalisation.
It will depend on which of the nuanced definitions of conservatism you are picking here - I would think this is more aligned with the Peel long-termist style of reform to conserve the state of play rather than the pure conservation of the liberty of the people and small state vision of Truss. But it you think about how the entanglements go actually you can even retrofit this law into the Trussian view. Since phones in the hands of children invites centralised firms (co-optable to be arms of the state) to erode the ability of centralised nuclear families from keeping cohesion then maybe the phone in the hands of children is just an illusion of liberty. So is this really mission-creep by the state or is the state ultimately limiting itself?
Agreed - there is an implicit "my-substrate-exceptionalism" here.
Lerchner assumes that semantic cuts require a pre-existing experiencing mapmaker. My framework instead treats his "mapmaker" as an emergent fixed-point of recursive measurement: legibility is not imposed by an antecedent biological subject, but bootstrapped through self-referential coherence dynamics.

AI will replace execution, not meaning.
As ritual becomes automated, humans must become originators.
The future belongs not to labour, but to invitation — to those who generate meaning within fractal free markets of ideas.

I talk about the necessary meta-architecture for consciousness in AI here. Essentially, a system that can halt its own measurement loop is a calculator; a system that cannot is alive.

The Guardian being factual and still managing to be manipulative here. They seem to have a perplexing aversion to benchmarking us Vs our peers on this topic...
