West Midlands Police made false statements to MPs while defending the false intelligence that it used to justify the ban on Maccabi fans last month.

It has now quietly apologised to Birmingham Jews.

As said before, enough Tel Aviv fans were racist and thuggish enough in Amsterdam last year for West Mids to have argued it may have been "high-risk" for them to attend the Villa game. It did not need to make things up.

But that is what @WMPolice did - and its chief constable Craig Guildford is refusing to acknowledge it.

He appears to believe that law enforcement can lie, and then lie about lying, in order to reach a major public order decision.
