Governments are always struggling to find revenue streams. The LCBO generates $2.5 billion in annual revenue.

It is a revenue producing asset - no wonder private corporations are clamouring to get their greedy little hands on it. But this isn’t in the public interest - and the government needs to represent and uphold the public interest. That’s the job.

Let’s not make the same terrible mistake Harris made with the 407 toll-highway - sold to a private consortium for $3 billion; today it’s worth over $30 billion. It was a great friends + family giveaway at the expense of Ontario taxpayers (many of whom now get snowed in peak period since there is no cap on profit).
