Abdul Samad Rabiu added a Bombardier Global 8000 to his fleet. Around $80 million.
Easy to file that under billionaire flex. But look closer.
The Global 8000 is the fastest civilian jet since the Concorde. It flies Lagos to New York nonstop. No stops, no refuelling, no hours lost on the ground.
Rabiu runs cement, sugar, ports and energy across Africa, the Middle East and Europe. For a man closing deals on three continents, time is the one resource he can’t make more of.
So it isn’t really about the jet. It’s about speed. When your business is everywhere, getting there faster is the edge.
The wealthy don’t buy toys. They buy back their time.
To all young graduates from the North and beyond, my experience with graduate trainee applications has been eye-opening.
After your https://t.co/e4YssnVdgI. and NYSC, you might feel ready for the job market, but the reality is that we’re all competing on a national stage. You see graduates from other parts of Nigeria who studied law, medicine, engineering, and other disciplines, yet many of them also have professional certifications like ICAN, ACCA, CFA, or other valuable credentials.
Why not us?
If we want to stand out, we must go beyond our degrees and invest in professional certifications, digital skills, and continuous learning. Whether it’s ICAN, ACCA, CFA, data analytics, project management, or other relevant courses, these qualifications can give us a competitive edge.
Let’s push ourselves to do more, learn more, and become more competitive. The opportunities are there—we just have to prepare ourselves for them.
By this your kakawa logic, should we also draw a straight line from almajiri to fraudsters, armed robbers, kidnappers, baby factories or cultists in Southern Nigeria?
I'm always amazed at how some people can be highly educated yet profoundly ignorant on certain subjects. So permit me to offer a brief lesson to you, Mr Generalizer!
Almajirai, terrorists, and bandits are not the same thing. Conflating them only demonstrates a lack of understanding of Nigeria's security challenges!
Firstly, not every almajiri becomes a menace to society. My father was an almajiri in Hardawa, Bauchi State over 90yrs ago, where he memorized the entire Qur'an. The almajiri system of his time was very different from what we see today.
I also had a young almajiri who helped with household chores many years ago. He later moved to Kaduna, found legitimate work, and eventually became a successful businessman. Years later, he visited me, I didn't even recognize him when he bowed down to greet me till he reminded me who he was.
My point is that, almajiranci does not automatically produce criminals! Does this mean I support the current almajiri system? Certainly not. It is in desperate need of major reform. But acknowledging its flaws is different from falsely claiming that every almajiri is a terrorist or bandit in waiting.
Secondly, terrorist groups such as Boko Haram and Lakurawa are primarily driven by ideology. Their recruitment cuts across different social and economic classes. Their ranks have included university graduates, professionals, clerics, and people with no formal education. Yes, some almajirai may have been recruited, but so have many others from entirely different backgrounds.
Thirdly, banditry is a different phenomenon altogether. Most bandit groups are driven by criminal enterprise who are mostly from the fulani ethnic group, who engage in kidnapping for ransom, cattle rustling, extortion, and territorial control. Their motivations, structures, and recruitment patterns are fundamentally different from those of ideological terrorist groups. I can almost guarantee you that none of these Fulani bandits are almajiris.
Nigeria's insecurity is a complex problem with roots in poverty, weak governance, corruption, unemployment, communal conflicts, porous borders, criminal economies, and extremist ideologies. Reducing all of that to "almajiranci" is not analysis, it is oversimplification!
Before making sweeping generalization, it helps to understand the subject matter. Complex problems deserve informed discussions, not convenient stereotypes!
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk!
The people that turned out to be agbero, cultists, yahoo bois, kidnappers/gbomogbomo, oloshos, organ harvesters, ritualists, drug dealers, 419 are they also products of Mass weddings?
This obvious prejudice and double standards stemming from hate, discrimination and disgust for Northerners and Muslims must stop if we want to build a harmonious society.
It must be done under the guise of mutual respect for one another.
A NEW PRESIDENTIAL YEAR BEGINS IN ICAN
Queensley Sofuratu Seghosime, mni, https://t.co/Ra4aJMCK0D, FCA has been formally invested as the 62nd President of ICAN, as the symbols of office were conferred before members, Council and distinguished guests.
With this, the mantle of leadership is passed, and a new chapter of service, vision and progress begins.

This is plainly false. Roughly 80% of students who sat for the bar finals this year passed, and historical data aren’t far off that mark. Compare this with professional exams where only about 40% of candidates pass.
Some of the smartest people I know are still struggling to clear the CFA, and even those who have passed often did so only after multiple attempts. The CFA has a pass rate below 50%, and you could practically count the number of charter holders in Nigeria on your hands, despite the national obsession with the qualification.
It’s understandable to be so traumatised by our own professional experience that we use it as the default measuring stick, but the data doesn’t bend to our sentiments. We’ve all seen the calibre of minds who’ve entered law school and passed on their first attempt. people whose intelligence, with all due respect, is nothing extraordinary.
About 2.6m naira will be the monthly expenses in running the school.

@Abdulrah_maan From years in marriage, looking back at 3 stages: b4 marriage, beginning of marriage, and years in marriage... I can tell you that alot of this issues at some point stop being issues. Bcos if both parties want the marriage to work, they don't have time for dragging rights.
Every Maiduguri girl goes through this immediately after Asr Prayer on her wedding day. And we do it every 2-3 months.
Yes, there is absolutely no problem going this length or even more to please your husband. Your husband isn't just a random man. Pleasing him is Deen. Do it and do more as long as it's not against the religion.
A woman who pleases her man in any way she can and capable of is always loved more, respected more, cared for more and also held more in high regards. Above all, your husband wouldn't want to see you stressed. He dwells in love, affection and empathy towards you.
This is your husband NOT JUST A RANDOM street man or one Sadiq that is a bachelor!
Please your man! Please him! Worship him and see how he will come down to your feet and control!!!! The easiest way to control a man is to worship him!
I have always said that savings will come before investing. And that to get to the point where investing will yield more result, you have to go through every stages of savings.
- Saving for Emergency Fund
- Saving for Personal Development
- Saving to Start & Grow a Cash Generating Business
After which, you move to investing cashflow in a portfolio of investment.
You cannot save what you need to survive.
My goal this year is to renovate 50 schools and equip them with essential learning materials.
Next year, insha Allah, we will expand our impact into the healthcare sector.
XM Charity Foundation.
Unrelated, but Hausa traders don’t touch/harass women in the market too.
I’ve noticed how they even avoid contact when I pass by. As someone who has lived in the north/middle belt, I can confidently tell you they are the most honest ethnic group in Nigeria (both in words and character).
Abuja was originally conceptualised by Gen Murtala Mohammed in 1975, but building started under Shagari.
Shagari built Area 1 and 2.
Buhari did not develop Abuja as military head of state.
IBB largely built Abuja , he built Area 3, 7, 8 ,10 and 11. He also built Wuse zone 1-7 and also Asokoro and Maitama.
Abacha built most of central area, Wuse 2 and Garki 2. Gwarinpa Estate which is the largest housing project was also built by Abacha
The only thing Abdulsalam built was Eagle Square.
Obasanjo build Utako, Wuye and Jabi and he must also be credit for licencing private mass housing in Abuja , the first of many estate to come to fruition was Prince and Princess estate where incidentally I bought my first house.
Development of Abuja is now mainly private sector driven .
