No political party is serious about what the UK needs: cuts across all govt departments, NHS, civil servants, pensions, everything. Less state, more freedom.
This misleading chart is making the rounds, claiming that Benefits Britain isn't broken after all. As always, the devil is in the caption. This is only looking at the *state pension*, and it's *per worker* - it doesn't include other benefits (which spiked during COVID) or the total number of people on such "benefits". Benefits can be £1 a month but if 100% of the population is on benefits it is still a huge problem. Numbers matter. But I don't expect an account dedicated to spreading communist propaganda to understand that.
@charliecolecc Qualifying for ILR is not the same as having a right to it. The Home Office can always reject applications (but I agree that they probably won't).
@DavidHarboh2@mindofprospect Don't worry John Dutton says this extra £1.3bn will be well spent! We can all sleep well then. This is an ✨ investment ✨ 😂😂😂
@mindofprospect@apsamuelson Because they clearly need them to bring people to their theme park. So it's a cost they should bear, rather than the taxpayers.
@lfg_uk The state should stop funding pretty much everything under the assumption that whatever it spends on will go massively over budget and end up being perpetual debt. We need to dramatically rethink the role of the state.
@hatterscrypto@DanielA84612544@BenGrahamUK@UKDecline And? This isn't a good enough reason to spend £1bn this way. There are other ways that can yield a 10x return. Another way is to not spend it, cut taxes, and the businesses can fix the roads they need with the money they save on tax. If it really is a case that the investment is
@DanielA84612544@hatterscrypto@BenGrahamUK@UKDecline Sure, let's race with other countries to who can spend the most to "attract investments" 🤣🤣🤣 How about we stop subsidising everyone and cut taxes? Many more businesses will come then. Your socialist thinking is what's wrong with the country. Look at our debt ffs
@hatterscrypto@DanielA84612544@BenGrahamUK@UKDecline Not quite. Universal needs better infrastructure to bring millions of people to their park. They are not fixing roads out of the goodness of their heart. The government is having to spend money to support a private business. If the business wants customers they can invest in roads
@hatterscrypto@BenGrahamUK@UKDecline But why should government money be spent on this? If they want to invest with their own money, then by all means, do so. Taxes would be lower if the state spent less money, and more companies would build here if taxes were lower.
How could anyone ever believe Starmer on anything is beyond me. Let alone believing him and his spend-now-tax-later Klarna chancellor
