Rock chips and drones. Two completely different problems, one answer: nanotechnology on the surface.
$ALCH.V Alchemy Labs, out of Kitchener, Canada, was founded in 2013 by two nanotechnology engineers from the University of Waterloo and listed on the TSX Venture in July.
Two business lines:
🚗 ExoShield
Protective film for windshields. Behind the glass on a modern car sits a cluster of cameras and sensors, which turns every replacement into an expensive, recalibration-heavy job. A windshield that shrugs off the rock chip means money saved and one less piece of glass headed for landfill.
🪖 Crypsis
Nanoparticles that dampen the heat signature of uniforms, tents and vehicles, making them harder to spot with thermal cameras, including those mounted on drones. Field-tested with the Canadian Armed Forces and commercialized through manufacturers that build the technology into textiles, paint and film.
What makes it interesting: an automotive business that is already generating revenue, and a defense business where partners carry much of the development – at a time when NATO members on both sides of the Atlantic are raising their defense budgets.
ESGFIRE sat down with CEO Khanjan Desai to talk about both businesses, what comes next after the listing, and the parallels with $XPEL 👇
