SFMTA is watering down or removing Slow Street signs / infrastructure, endangering people and decreasing usage.
Today, I sent a letter to SFMTA on behalf of 10+ groups calling for critical infrastructure (link in 🧵).

@eillieanzi It’s shameful the way you’ve been treated and doxed. Family and health comes first always. Your work is important and has impacted the community in such a positive way. 💚
Hey @conniechansf have you been asleep. Time to wake up and bring D1 together. Slow Lake is permanent now. It’s a great opportunity for you to step and lead. Kids shouldn’t have to fear for their lives biking to school.
This is absolutely unacceptable. What’s worse is we haven’t heard a single word from anyone in leadership? What is going on ? Are we waiting for a child to get hit on the way to school? @sfchronicle@LondonBreed.
Coming off the high of @SlowStreetsSF win Tuesday. But @SFMTA_Muni@SlowLakeStreet is pretty dangerous RN. I’ve called @311 and @conniechansf. Cars are gunning it down Lake during rush hour while children are biking to school. When are we getting permanent signs?
@SFMTA_Muni@SlowStreetsSF@SlowLakeStreet@311@conniechansf Thank you @SFMTA_Muni we were told during the board meeting vote that transparency in the process was key. Moving the barriers w/o notice is not only losing public trust but dangerous for kids and the elderly still using it as a slow street.
I feel sometimes as adults we forget how invested kids are in their streets. The right to enjoy and freedom to travel independently. Thank you @SFMTA_Muni for your leadership and commitment. Very proud to be a San Franciscan today!
