Social Media Claim Sparks Alarm Over Fate of 11 Kuki Hostages
A social media post attributed to a self-identified "Kaccha Naga individual" has triggered fresh concern over 11 Kuki individuals reported missing after being taken hostage.
The post, shared by a user named Ajoy Rephung, claims the 11 hostages, described as "Burmese refugee," are "already dead and their bodies are decomposed." It adds a warning: "this time you will learn an unforgettable lesson in life."
The claim remains unverified, and no official confirmation has been issued by authorities regarding the status or location of the hostages.
The graphic, circulated by Zalengam Media, demands an independent probe into the hostage case, recovery of the bodies, and protection for Kuki civilians. It also calls on the government to "end ethnic terror."
As of now, the whereabouts of the 11 individuals remain unknown.

KIM stated that the decision was taken after “thorough deliberation” in view of what it described as the continued inaction of the government and the absence of any positive response to the charter of demands submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 14.

Family members of the 14 Kukis abducted by Manipur Naga militant groups have appealed for the safe release of their sons, husbands, and brothers.
@HMOIndia@easterncomd@official_dgar@Spearcorps You are all so so weak that you can’t even ensure the basic safety of civilians.
GUNCHU Coaching Institute, Kangpokpi strongly condemns the abduction of its student, Sehminhao Chongloi of Taphou Kuki Village. He and his friends were reportedly taken hostage by SDSA & NSCN-IM at Senapati on May 13. The administration demands their immediate release.
Heartrending. Read that: Physically handicapped Orphan Minor school student supporting family by daily wages from manual labour among the hostages in Senapati. Zero justification for holding them. If the SDSA has any humanity release them. Pursue political grievances politically.
Facebook user name “Ajoy Rephung” has allegedly admitted to the killing of 11 hostages, mocked grieving families to collect decomposed bodies & issued further threats. @Cyberdost please trace the individual behind the profile and take swift legal action.

We are deeply shocked and disturbed by the statement made by #Ajoy_Raphung claiming that 11 Kuki hostages have been killed and asking the Kuki people to collect their dead bodies.
If this statement is true, it is a horrifying and inhuman act that deserves immediate condemnation from every section of society. The killing of innocent civilians and hostage victims is a grave violation of human rights and humanity itself.
We strongly urge the Government of India, the Government of Manipur, and all concerned security agencies to immediately investigate this matter without delay and verify the condition and whereabouts of the missing Kuki hostages. The truth must come out as soon as possible, and those responsible must be identified and brought to justice.
At this critical moment, we appeal for urgent intervention to prevent further loss of innocent lives and to ensure justice, accountability, and the safe recovery of all remaining hostages.
The pain and suffering of the affected families cannot be ignored. Humanity must prevail.

The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has extended the ongoing total shutdown in Kuki-Zo areas by another 48 hours, intensifying its demand for the safe release of the remaining hostages allegedly held in Senapati district.
The decision followed a large protest in Kangpokpi, where thousands gathered demanding unconditional release of 14 civilians and justice for the killing of three Kuki-Zo church leaders. Civil society groups said the agitation will continue until all demands, including the Charter of Demands submitted to the government, are addressed.

#WATCH | Churachandpur, Manipur | Young Pillars College Principal and MD, Samuel Haokip, says, "Among the 14 that were abducted, there's a boy named Hengunsei Khongsai, a student of Young Pillars College. He had just completed his class 11 final exams. Now, Hengunsei is still a minor. He's only 16 years of age. He also has a disability and he's essentially an orphan. His mother left him when he was a child and his father passed away this January. Now, his friends have started their class 12 a week ago. He could not come. He's still in Taphou village. He was in Taphou village to earn his fare money, just to come from his village to Lamka... I earnestly appeal to the government at the state and the centre, to all the security agencies and to all right-thinking community leaders across the region. Please put an end to this madness... Let us release all the hostages on all sides, including our boy, Hengunsei Khongsai... On the 14th of May, as I've been given to understand by his family members, Hengunsei Khongsai, along with his friends and village members were earning money as a daily wage labourer. On their way home to their village, they were stopped, in front of Mount Everest College, Senapati, where they were stopped by Senapati District Student Association (SDSA) members. There were also police members present there, security personnel. Instead of protecting Hengunsei Khongsai and his friends and his villagers, the security people have handed over these civilians into the hands of the SDSA... All involved parties, including the SDSA student leaders as well as the police personnel involved in that incident must be investigated and they must be held accountable for whatever happens to Hengunsei Khongsai and the abducted 14 members."

The recent resignation of Manipur's Chief Minister, N Biren Singh, can be seen as a strategic move to avoid the embarrassment of a potential no-confidence motion initiated by the Congress party ¹. This development comes amidst the ongoing ethnic clashes in the state, which have resulted in significant loss of life and displacement of people. The opposition had been vocal about its dissatisfaction with Singh's handling of the crisis.
The Manipur Biren Tapes, currently under scrutiny by the Supreme Court of India, have added to the controversy surrounding Singh's leadership ². These tapes allegedly contain conversations that implicate Singh in ethnic violence, further fueling demands for his resignation. As the situation in Manipur continues to unfold, our organization remains committed to monitoring developments and advocating for peaceful resolution and accountability.
