Javier Mascherano admitted on Vida de Campeones that winning the 2007 Champions League final with Liverpool might have prevented his transfer to Barcelona 😳:
“Yes, maybe, and maybe (had Liverpool won the UCL) I wouldn’t have gone to Barcelona and I would have stayed there.
You never know. Maybe, but the truth is that the three and a half years in Liverpool were spectacular.”
[🟢] NEW: Liverpool consider Andoni Iraola one of the best coaches available and perfectly suited to evolving the team’s style.
They were also attracted by his proven performance in the Premier League, where he improved Bournemouth year-on-year without having the resources of the majority of his competitors and made them an exciting, high-pressing team.
His track-record of improving players individually and collectively also appealed, as did his personality and leadership skills.
