@Palmtreebeach@acweyand Ferritin is involved in iron storage, but it also has other functions. It can be increased due to inflammation or other stressors.
So those stressors can be how a person with low iron has high ferritin.
In these cases, hemoglobin, TIBC, and MCHC are important to consider.
A lot of kids are low iron!
They do not have stored iron like adults. They also might be picky or sensitive eaters, which limits their ability to maintain and store iron.

@SouthernMomma98 This occurs because low iron increases the number of platelets, which are blood cells involved in clotting.
It also may use up more blood and even further contribute to low iron, in a tiring feedback loop.
