स्व. बाळासाहेबांची आज १०० वी जयंती. इतिहासात जन्म शताब्दी वर्ष अनेकांची साजरी झाली आहेत आणि होतील देखील, पण एखादी व्यक्ती हयात नसताना देखील ती लोकांच्या स्मृतीत रहावी, आणि त्या व्यक्तीने आज देखील एखाद्या प्रांताच्या राजकारणाला आणि समाजकारणाला आकार देत रहावं हे दुर्मिळ. हे फक्त बहुदा बाळासाहेबांच्या बाबतीतच घडू शकतं. आणि म्हणूनच बाळासाहेब १०० वर्षांनीच काय पण त्यांच्या द्विशतकी जन्मवर्षात देखील लोकांच्या स्मरणात राहतील याची मला पूर्ण खात्री आहे. फक्त तेंव्हा मात्र बाळासाहेबांचं स्मरण करणारा मराठी माणूस हा दुभंगलेला, खचलेला, पिचलेला आणि अन्याय मुकाट्याने सहन करणारा नसावा.

आज निष्ठा सहज विकल्या जातात. तत्व सहज फेकून दिली जातात, आणि राजकारण हे पूर्ण व्यवहारी झालं आहे. आज राजकारणातलं यश हे कुठले मुद्दे ऐरणीवर आणले, प्रांतिक, भाषिक अस्मिता किती धगधगती ठेवली यापेक्षा निवडणुकीच्या राजकारणात किती यश मिळालं आणि त्यासाठी काय क्लुप्त्या वापरल्या यावर मोजलं जातं. बाळासाहेबांच्या काळात या असल्या अपेक्षांच्या फूटपट्ट्या नव्हत्या आणि असत्या तरी त्या त्यांनी झुगारून दिल्या असत्या. त्यांना स्वतःला सत्तेचं अप्रूप नव्हतं पण सामान्य कार्यकर्त्याला सत्तेच्या पदावर बसवण्याचं समाधान मात्र त्यांना मिळालं . सत्ता येते जाते. आजचे सत्ताधीश उद्या एखाद्या नामफलकापुरते राहतात पण काही पिढ्या झपाटून टाकतील असा प्रभाव फार थोडे लोकं टाकू शकतात. हा प्रभाव हीच बाळासाहेबांची शक्ती राहिली आणि हाच त्यांचा वारसा.

बाळासाहेब दूरदर्शी होते. त्यांचा दृष्टिकोन आजही सुसंगत वाटतो आणि भविष्यातही राहील. त्यामुळेच ते कालातीत राहातील. बाळासाहेबांसारखी प्रतिभा परत कधी बघायला मिळणार नाही हे जितकं खरं आहे तितकंच बाळासाहेबांसारखं राजकारण करणं यापुढे कोणालाच जमणार नाही हे देखील खरं आहे. पण त्यांच्या प्रतिमेला कुठेही धक्का लागणार नाही आणि त्यांनी मराठी भाषेसाठी, मराठी माणसासाठी उभारलेला लढा हा मात्र धगधगत राहील, हे पाहणं बाळासाहेबांच्या पुढच्या पिढ्यांच्या हातात आहे. आणि ते आम्ही नेटाने करू हा आमचा मराठी माणसाला शब्द आहे.

राजकारणात कधीतरी बाळासाहेबांना पण लवचिक भूमिका घ्यावी लागली म्हणून त्यांचं मराठी माणसावरचं प्रेम तसूभर पण कमी झालं नाही, उलट ते अधिकच दृढ होत गेलं. हेच संस्कार आमच्यावर आहेत. मी एक शब्द आज पुन्हा देतो की, आरपार बदललेल्या राजकारणात कधीतरी थोडी लवचिक भूमिका घेतली, तरी ती माझ्या व्यक्तिगत फायद्यासाठी किंवा स्वार्थसाठी कधीही नसेल.
बाळासाहेबांचं मराठी भाषेवर, मराठी प्रांतावर आणि मराठी माणसावर असलेलं जाज्वल्य प्रेम पाहून जी हजारो लाखो लोकं त्यांच्यासोबत येत गेली त्यातला मी एक आहे. त्यामुळे 'बाळासाहेब' आणि 'मराठी' या दोन शब्दांवरची माझी आणि माझ्या महाराष्ट्र सैनिकांची श्रद्धा , प्रेम तसूभर पण कमी होणार नाही.
