One of the red flags of AI-written text is the heavy use of these odd linguistic constructions called “cataphoric teasers” to create an artificial feeling of suspense. These are easy to spot because they usually take the form of phrases like, “Here’s the part that nobody tells you…” or “Here’s what most people get wrong…” or “Here’s where it gets interesting.” From my experience, text written by Claude is often saturated with these types of phrases. I don't see it as much in ChatGPT (that's anecdotal, though. I might be wrong).

Sheriff Slaps $1 Million Lawsuit on "Fabricated" ICE Detention Tale

On March 5, 2026, Sundas “Sunny” Naqvi, 28, of Skokie, Illinois, claimed she and five colleagues (U.S. citizens and green card holders) arrived at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois, from Turkey after their planned work trip to India was canceled the previous month due to visa issues. She alleged U.S. Customs and Border Protection detained the group for about 30 hours at O’Hare, then transferred them to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Broadview, Illinois, and later to the Dodge County Jail in Juneau, Wisconsin. Naqvi said she was released on March 7, 2026, after nearly 43 hours total in custody.

On March 8, 2026, Naqvi’s family and Cook County Commissioner Kevin Morrison (a family friend) held a press conference outside the Broadview ICE facility and shared phone location screenshots to support the claims.

Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt of Dodge County, Wisconsin, stated Naqvi was never detained by ICE, never transported to the Broadview facility, and never held at the Dodge County Jail. Evidence included: hotel records showing Naqvi checked into the Hampton Inn & Suites in Rosemont, Illinois (near O’Hare) on March 5, 2026, and stayed through March 8; surveillance footage confirming she left O’Hare about 90 minutes after landing; and records of her traveling to Wisconsin with an ex-boyfriend on March 6-7, 2026—including a gas station in Slinger, Wisconsin, at 5:38 a.m. on March 7 and the Holiday Inn in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, at 6:33 a.m. The sheriff alleged Naqvi faked phone location data, scammed the ex-boyfriend out of about $25,000 (including her Turkey flight), and had a prior 2019 false police report in Skokie, Illinois.

On April 10, 2026, Sheriff Schmidt filed a $1 million federal defamation lawsuit in Wisconsin against Naqvi and Morrison (plus up to 10 John Doe defendants) for reputational harm. No criminal charges were filed. Neither Naqvi nor Morrison commented on the suit.
