Death at the White Hart Chris Chibnall – just a great story inhabited by so many interesting people.
What the Night Brings Mark Billingham – what a way to upend the whole series, I never saw it coming.

The last 30 pages of What the Night Brings by @markbillingham are terrible/fabulous in the best/worst way. Obviously I am conflicted, but what a big swing to upend the whole series; never saw any of it coming. Always amazing writing!

City of Destruction by @VaseemKhanUK is an enlightening depiction of post Partition India. Geopolitics, misogyny and racial struggles are highlighted inside of complex murder mystery. Persis has changed so much over the series; I can’t wait to see what is next for her.

These are the best books I read in 2024 although some of them were published earlier. In some cases much, much earlier (I’m looking at you The Power Broker). Thanks to @romanmars and @elliottkalan for helping me finish this gigantic book with their engrossing podcast.

I was very concerned how @beathhigh was going to handle Rebus in jail- I’m an idiot! How could I not trust that this book, Midnight and Blue would be one of his best. Complex plot, complicated new and returning characters; everything I want in a mystery.
