As districts announce the move to virtual for fall, here are 3 questions for planning. 1) what good practices apply as is? (E.g. greet kids by name) 2) what can be applied with adaptation? (E.g., many active responses such as whiteboards) 3) what doesn’t apply? #virtuallearning
@RandySprick I met you 5 yrs ago. I had to retire this yr. from Conroe ISD. I hope you are working on programs to support educators thru these times. The kids will need more support than ever, but we also need to support educators who are in need.
Smartest thing I heard from a supt recently:
As part of reopening planning, arrange a simulated school day (or even 1/2 day) for key stakeholders (supt, bd, union pres, etc) to "attend" school under draft plan.
From bus to class to bathroom, walk in their shoes b4 deciding.
@ToddWhitaker So very true. It should be a common event for teachers as well as students. I believe adm would see fewer referrals and have more time for this if this became the norm. Proactive behaviors. Support when needed, not criticism.
