@JohnKincade@KylePagan_ It’s not that the US is lacking in athletes. It’s an inequitable program. 3/5 of the last coaches have sons in the program. Players like Messi would fall through the cracks in identifying talent. Our best sports(baseball, football, even hockey) have much better systems.
@benmoores2 Fort Ticonderoga and Crown Point in NY are also amazing. Two more personal favorites.
1. Machaeras in Jordan same story as Masada but they surrendered. You can see Roman siege lines and beginning of a ramp.
2. Qsar Bashir. Best Roman fortress still has door inscription in situ
@benmoores2 Several that I would add:
1. Peru has some great ones Paramonga looks like a European castle but was built by the Inca as was…
2. Sacsayhuaman
3. San Juan PR El Morro magnificent city wall in the largest American fortress
4. Gallipoli is amazing
@Clint_Davey1 When I was 10 Star Wars was 20 years old and I loved that movie. Raiders of the Last Ark was 15 and those were probably two of my favorite movies.
I am enjoying Bernard Cornwell’s Waterloo much more than I thought I would. However this line reeks of irony. It’s almost like someone wrote a series about the 19th century British army where every book has a different aristocratic fop the protagonist has to fight against.
Had a great day today being guided around the Battle of Salamanca by @CharlesEsdaile@guidltours it’s a spectacular battlefield and I am much more in awe of the military skill of Wellington after visiting his “greatest victory.”
@AndyAitcheson https://t.co/e9AxpUOH6n I’m really sorry. But this also turned me off a notable historian who included Manchester’s account of a battle with a sniper in their book. You can find Manchester’s lies by doing a quick read of Wikipedia.
