My experience yesterday illustrates why we are working so hard to get all teachers-on-call (TTOCs/subs) and on-call support staff trained in #anaphylaxis annually (per the 2007 BC Ministerial Order). Please share. This affects districts throughout BC #vsb39#bced (A thread.)
Vancouver just passed an ambitious, comprehensive Climate Emergency Action Plan, based on science, and rooted in justice.
Huge thank you to everyone who worked to make this possible!

Such a great win to celebrate tonight! #vanpoli

Any school districts working on transitional options should consider including outdoor social connection opportunities within their transitional plans. This is key to supporting kids mental health right now. #bced
@VSB39 If we choose Option 4 does that mean we can't change our minds and send our kids the first day of class? And vice versa, if after a couple of days we are uncomfortable, could we switch to Option 4?
I am not sure who to ask, so I am asking #bced Twitter!
Just received the parent survey from @VSB39. If we choose option 4 (transition) are we locked in for the beginning of September? I wish I could rank the options rather than choosing one.
Great podcast by Dr Brian Goldman called the Dose. (He also does White Coat, Black Art.) This episode talks to an infectious disease doctor from CHEO, the kids' hospital in Ottawa, regarding return to school. Very interesting info! #bced

Our kids might not be required to wear masks in September (in BC), but I still worry that anaphylaxis could fall through the cracks when our focus is on the pandemic. Especially since annual training is not happening consistently in the schools.
been watching this clip and thinking about how right this person is about narratives getting built around the people protecting themselves. Like how quickly the story here became "THE PROTESTERS HAVE THEIR OWN SHIELDS" as if that action was taken for no reason at all
People with #foodallergy & other medical conditions rely upon food labels to ensure safety.
As such, this vague announcement by the FDA is concerning. I encourage everyone impacted to discuss w your personal doctor and read report in entirety. https://t.co/5bQlH6sSmB
@HollyJHornby@CarrieBercic No evidence to support the use of PPE in schools...but schools have been basically empty for the length of pandemic. Has anyone actually done a study to give evidence that it is NOT needed?
I'm nervous about the @bcedplan announcement tomorrow. I'm concerned about our children & school staff being the guinea pigs in lifting restrictions. The announcement needs to answer questions, not create more uncertainty. #drbonniehenry@Rob_Fleming#bced
