Yes, we know. Low budget. Lower TV ratings. You've repeated that enough.
Meanwhile, Lovely Runner earned multiple awards, a globally successful OST, a fictional band that became a phenomenon, and it's still reaching new audiences through Netflix.
If you're truly confident that your favorite K-drama is that great, there's no need to tear down someone else's. Lovely Runner doesn't need validation. It already made its mark.

While I personally don’t see the point in keeping scores since they’re both Wooseok’s works and both are successful by their own measures 🤷🏻‍♀️, I think if you want to talk facts & claim objectiveness then pls at least do some proper research & be transparent abt the metrics you’re using.

1. If you measure a drama’s success vis-a-vis its investors, the metric you’re looking for would be ROI (ie, profits earned), not the initial invested amount. At most, the amounts you cite reflect investors’ expectation in one of the most anticipated drama of the year on the one hand, and a weekday drama that most ppl didn’t have expect all that much on the other, which I don’t think anyone is disputing.

2. I understand you’re using FlixPatrol as an indicator of each drama’s VOD performance in SK. I don’t claim to know much abt FlixPatrol’s scoring so pls correct me if I’m wrong, but they seem to not include Tving’s number which was the exclusive platform for LR in SK from the date of its release until June 2026. This means this score on FlixPatrol only reflects LR’s performance on Netflix KR for the past 2 months, 2 years after the drama ended, which is quite an unfair comparison if you ask me.

I think it’d be a mishap to not mention that the day of LR’s final ep was the first (and I think only?) day in history that TVing ever surpassed Netflix KR in the number of daily viewers. Not to mention how the number of subscribers skyrocketed for TVing during this period. I don’t blame OP for not knowing, but I do want to note the data you’re citing is not the gotcha moment you think it is.

3. PC’s rating is much higher than LR and that’s the one metric that I’d agree with you on. But you’re conveniently leaving out the fact that the playing field was not equal. One was a prime time tv network drama, the other is a Mon-Tue cable drama. The odds were stacked for PC to perform well in terms of rating (which gladly it did)

And while I (and perhaps a sizable knetz population) also think it was one of those extremely rare occasion where rating did not properly reflect a drama’s actual popularity and the level of public discourse, that’s probably another convo for another day. If even the Korean tv executives could not come up with any proper explanation as to why ratings failed to properly reflect LR’s performance (there were many news articles about this on Naver btw), I highly doubt that us non-Koreans could make any better sense of it by debating after the facts 🤧
