Policymakers should give the 19M kids the full credit. If that’s not possible in the near future, a bipartisan approach from 2 yrs ago would make solid progress toward that goal, expanding the credit for the vast majority of kids left out. https://t.co/eW1d8DRd6z
New paper from Kris Cox (@krisycox.bsky.social on Bsky) and me on the 19M kids in lower-inc fams left out of the full $2,200 #ChildTaxCredit under the 2025 Repub reconciliation law. That’s more than 1 in 4 kids <17, most of whom are in working families. https://t.co/eW1d8DRd6z
The CTC is a proven tool to strengthen economic security. Lawmakers should make the full CTC available to kids in lower-inc families, like they did in 2021. The recent American Family Act bill does this and further expands the CTC.
