When parents are all “why aren’t they teaching math the same way I was taught as a kid?” I’m like, because name one other thing you think should be done the same way it was THIRTY YEARS AGO?! #mathchat
A little more on how we address competition with our kids…
One thing @schwabwrestling addresses when he coaches our older guys is what’s next after you’re done with this sport. If your identity is so wrapped up in only your athletic accomplishments or being an athlete you’re gonna struggle moving on from that. For years your days have been planned out and then one day it’s like ok now what?
As a parent we have worked hard in trying to relay that there’s more to come after this sport, but when you’re in it we expect you to give it you’re all. And then there is a balance we are still figuring out to not make the competition dates so much bigger than what they are : another day to go out there and showcase your skills.

When kids cheat on assignments it is because they have been taught that grades outweigh the importance of knowing things. We need to fix this.

Did you know that many of the stores you shop at use mathematical modeling to make predictions about you? Target can even figure out when you're pregnant. Literally.

Teachers who receive regular recognition & appreciation are:
* More productive
* More engaged in school
* More likely to stay with school
* More likely to receive higher satisfaction scores from students & parents.
Yes, Appreciation matters!
Teachers often choose not to push students too much because they don't want the students to get frustrated and quit. That's a mistake, say these educators. #EWOpinion https://t.co/2EC1HAhoum
Life is too short to work/teach in a school where you feel unfulfilled, and undervalued. I left that type of environment many years and never regretted it for a minute. Leaders, treat your staff in such a way that they want to stay!
