1 year ago today I was told I had to go in for an induction due to preeclampsia and gestational diabetes. I was so upset. This wasn’t the plan. I never could have imagined I would spend days waiting for my baby to come. I almost died.
It was extremely traumatic and devastating and I felt like a failure. I am still dealing with consequences from my c-section. This is a little of our story. Thankfully, it has a happy ending. My story is not unique, labor is scary and dangerous.
I developed chorioaminitis and required antibiotics. I suffered a traumatic C-section with extended incisions. I watched my baby come out dead not crying with an apgar of 2. I required pressors and two blood transfusions. My baby ended up in the nicu.
