@Dale14896397@DanIsett I’m sure Tech will. I’m sure Big12 is looking carefully at legal options per the powers they do have. I’m sure a tech and Sorsby are not the only ones willing to go more into lawfare to get their idea of justice. I’m sure there are other states that can file their own motions
@mamawinn86@BigHen49 I guess you could say San Jose state was doing right thing when they let a man with mental health issue to play on the girls volleyball team. Doesn’t mean they had to let him play. Doesn’t mean they were not going to take heat from opponents, conference eta for doing it
@DallasTX15023@neoavatara The sanctions could definitely be against Cincy the program but would more importantly involve the disqualification of the Player from playing for any Big12 program.
@WinterSportsLaw Law fare at its finest.
What’s to prevent local judges in
Oklahoma, Colorado and Ohio where Tech has Big12 road games from local state ruling player deemed ineligible by NCAA not allowed to play in their state in the name of fairness. Is that far fetched in lawfare war?
@DallasTX15023@neoavatara They did get him gambling addiction awareness therapy if I read it right. And his gambling appears to have decreased to be less then when at IU. He might have had to be trickier to bet thru other parties after more eyes were on him.
@JWesleyDorman@dannykanell Some maybe. Most didn’t care much until this polarized them. Tech PR definitely didn’t read the room very well or they just don’t care what anyone thinks. PR nightmare moving forward if nothing else regardless of outcome.
@DanIsett We’re people mad at Penn U for letting Trans Lia Thomas swim on the women’s team? Can say they had no choice due to some legal ruling counter to conventional argument. People still found it gross even though they were supporting athletes mental health issues.
Sorsby gambled underage in Indiana and Ohio. Transferred to Texas Tech, and sent money to out-of-state proxies to place bets on his behalf while located in Texas, which is a federal crime
When I lived in Texas it viewed itself as a law and order state. Apparently AG Ken Paxton is more interested in flushing competition integrity for tens of thousands of student athletes.
None of these people have a single ounce of shame. There will be calls for federal action against Sorsby now, as it might be the only way to maintain the public trust in college sports.
As I explained below, it Texas Tech gave a shit about Brendan Sorsby the person they would be handing all of this much differently
@ktfuntweets@ZSteins_@Nateskin14 We know how addiction works. What Tech is doing now is enabling the addict. Shielding him from the repercussions when your addiction causes you to break rules. Him playing football is not a necessary component to his recovery.
@RossDellenger Hate it. He is right if the Big12 came out and said all Tdch conference games will not be played etc etc. but that should not prevent Big12 from doing their own valid single player suspension from Big12 play for the player in question
@CodyC64 What if Tech was supporting Lia Thomas to be on the Tech swim team. Most didn’t think he should be swimming on girls team but lawsuits allowed it, so you throw her in the pool with girls to win and you did no wrong legally but in court of public opinion most find it sleazy
@HoustonBig3@EricTaylor415 It’s not that people don’t want him playing at Tech. It’s that they do not want him playing for any college team.
Kinda like a trans kid on the girls team. Don’t hit it because of the team happens to be on. Hate it because we don’t think he should play at all.
