If a Dalit IAS officer’s child wants to take admission in Kashibai Navale Medical College for MBBS, their first-semester fees will be ₹0. Meanwhile, a Brahmin child from a remote village will have to pay ₹14 lakh+ for the same.

The same story repeats across almost all govt and semi-govt medical, engineering, and law colleges.

This is beyond absurd! If reservations were granted based on caste, not financial status, why is education free for all Dalit students, even the rich, while general category students, even the poor, face hefty fees?

What’s even more ridiculous is that the only category based on financial status—EWS—still has to pay ₹7 lakh+, while a wealthy Dalit student pays nothing.

Fine, keep caste-based reservations; no one can change that. But at the very least, exam and semester fees should be based on financial background, not caste. That’s the bare minimum for justice.
