@drantbradley What's strange is that she wasn't a single mother, she was married to the father for years. And there are a lot of siblings, but I believe Marlon is the youngest, so I wonder if somehow that plays into it.
Apologetics and Evangelization is difficult when folks "knowledge" and push back against the Gospel (Bible, Xtian History, etc) is based on social media conspiracy-esque theory videos. But I guess blinded eyes just look different & it's always been the Spirit's working.
2. as a legitimate option for families. I'm pretty positive that we have the necessary resources (buildings, finances, educators, other infrastructure) to make it happen. I'm in Jersey and there's only three that I know of in the entire state.
1. As one gentleman commented on this: "this is a failure of the church." Our children go to a Christian Hybrid School. 3 Days in school, 2 days home. Incredibly affordable. As a PCA guy, there's no way that every presbytery couldn't provide 1-2 of these Hybrid Schools...
This is so sad because homeschooling is definitely not for everyone and the conservative subculture pushing it as a be-all solution is going to backfire years down the road: ruined marriages, kids with poor mental health, etc.
@drantbradley The interesting and ironic aspect is that the man's opinion about "black culture" is similar to some within the aspect of culture he speaks of. Uninformed, guided by algorithm, black & white folk have told me that low virtue is "real black culture". Both need a reality check.
Based, old school Dutch Reformed elder comment where I was pulpit supply for evening service: "I didn't know who Mr. Kirk was. But if these folks want to honor his life, they should've came back to evening service and recorded the memorial."
@JoshuaBarzon Someone I don't know well - 5
First time at a friend's - no later than 5:10
Real friends, darn near family - anywhere between 5-5:30. They're still finishing food anyway. Plus, we're gonna get there, talk, help them finish getting ready for dinner.
American Evangelical Pragmatism + Methodist Revivalism + German Pietism + Baptist/Congregationalist Polity + Charismatic Influence + Belief in Election + 0 Subscription to A historic Reformed Confession = Reformed. I get why NAPARC guys get upset.
Great Convo.
As a 19 yr old, Youth Min. Dir. at a non-denom church plant, an adult "mature Christian" team member suggested we use "The Secret" for the teens. It was an absolute "No". Attempted to remove said member from team, but was denied by Pastor. This mess runs deep.
WCF for the win. Convo.
"You believe in white Jesus."
"Nah. Jesus was born in Bethlehem, raised in Nazareth. That's not Europe."
(holds up picture). "You worship him."
"That's a painting from like the Middle Ages. Plus I don't think we should make pics of Jesus."
"?...."
Glad that our only son is at the age where he takes the long trips for pulpit supply with me. He gets half the ride for all the newer CHH like @nobigdyl and I get half to hip him to some old school Cross Movement.
So, the Sunday after a public military act, I preach (not by choice) on Daniel 2 generally on the kingdoms of the world. And mid sermon, the lightbulb above me blows and then loud thunder. So how's everyone else's Sunday.
