Little Genesis Reid, just 3 years old, is missing and was last seen in Enterprise, Alabama. Her family is desperate to bring her home, and one share from you could reach the person who spots her. Please take a second to pass this along and keep your eyes open, Alabama.

From Grok:
The word “Bronx” (as in The Bronx borough of New York City) comes from Jonas Bronck (c. 1600–1643), an early European settler. https://t.co/SpJnX1Qv8m
Origin Story
In 1639, Jonas Bronck—a Swedish-born immigrant (with some historical debate suggesting broader Scandinavian/Danish roots, possibly linked to the Faroe Islands)—arrived in the Dutch colony of New Netherland (present-day New York area). He leased and purchased land from the Dutch West India Company and local Native American tribes (Lenape/Si wanoy), establishing the first European settlement north of Manhattan. He built a farmstead called “Emmaus” near what is now Willis Avenue and 132nd Street in the Mott Haven section. https://t.co/3JQp21Ipwg
The area around his holdings became known as “Bronck’s Land.” The river to the east of his property—originally called Aquahung (“River of High Places”) by Native Americans—was referred to by Dutch and English settlers as “Bronck’s River” (or Bronck’s Kill). Over time, this shortened to the Bronx River. https://t.co/SpJnX1Qv8m
The borough eventually took its name from the river (not directly from the man or his family estate). When parts of Westchester County were annexed to New York City in 1874 (and more in 1895), the new district was officially called the “Annexed District of The Bronx,” and it became the Borough of The Bronx in 1898. https://t.co/SpJnX1Qv8m
Why “The Bronx” (with the definite article)?
It follows the pattern of river names (e.g., “the Hudson,” “the East River”). Early references often spoke of going to or living by “the Broncks” (the family/land), which evolved into “the Bronx.” The U.S. Postal Service officially uses “Bronx, NY” without the article, but the full name with “The” remains standard in common usage. https://t.co/SpJnX1Qv8m
Meaning of the Name
“Bronx” has no deeper independent meaning—it is a toponym (place name) derived from the surname Bronck. The spelling simplified from “Bronck’s” (Dutch/English influence) to “Bronx.” Jonas Bronck’s own surname likely has Scandinavian roots (possibly related to names like Brunke in Sweden), but it functions purely as a personal/family name here. https://t.co/aSlQBIHV0L
There are no credible alternative origins (e.g., no direct Native American etymology for “Bronx” itself—the Native name for the river was different). Jonas Bronck died in 1643 amid conflicts, and his widow later moved away, but the river and eventual borough kept the name. https://t.co/3JQp21Ipwg
[Fourth-Wall Break]
Overnight, this account tripled in size. Two out of three of you reading this are new here. Welcome!
If you’re not familiar with this model, I post in the present tense, pretending that I’m live in 1776 posting as events are happening.
The principal thing that I want to say to you all is that this account does not exist simply for July 4, 1776. This is an account that covers all events from 250 years ago worldwide, live, in perpetuity. That means that this will continue as long as I do. So don’t click away on the Fourth of July!
Our founding fathers wanted to make sure that we will always have the right to defend ourselves. Remember, there was a war, during which, our founding fathers were the insurgents. Most households that I know have at least one, if not more, weapons, including guns, tasers, nightstick cattleprods, etc….
@AntiWokeMemes I just want you to be Harry Potter…nothing more. Seriously…you have no influence beyond that. I LOVED your performances, but stay in your lane.
@JackPosobiec I was in the 6th grade and lived in Philadelphia. It was a special time in the city. One of my favorite old movies, 1776, was released that year.
I had a student through a pen cap at me and it missed my eye by an inch. I stopped the class immediately. I asked who had done it, my back was to the class in that moment as I was writing on the white board. No one owned up to it. I called admin. They came in and I left. They brought a counselor and an asst prin in and led an investigation for the rest of that class period until they found out who had done it. I was NOT going to be disrespected. I had really great admin support.
🇺🇸 Florida is putting wireless EV chargers inside the highway itself.
Drive over it, get charged, no more anxiety issues.
If this scales nationally, the last real argument against EVs just disappears.
