Philosophriends, I worked with @openstax (et multi alibi) to write an Intro to Philosophy textbook that covers the bases--from a global perspective. It's completely free & you'll appreciate the quality and breadth. Use it as a primary text or supplement: https://t.co/zgzx3vozP7
@morallawwithin (Oh, and one more: marginalizing a genuine attempt at some more objective ranking of the merits of grad programs in philosophy.) Arguably, each of these effects were intentional in the design of the PGR.
@morallawwithin That, and, it has had three principle effects: 1) elevating schools outside the Ivies and traditional powerhouse schools who had really great Phil depts, 2) obliterating the reputation of Continental-focused schools, 3) enshrining the status of BL as king-maker.
@bkpark Opposite problem. I use about half a small can when I make a soup or sauce. I never need much more. I've tried storing it, but it goes bad before the next use.
@itaisher Sorry for the late reply, I'm not on here much anymore. Deplatforming as a strategy originated among student organizations in the UK and it continues to be something (typically) marginalized groups advocate for. I don't think it's about paternalistic protection.
Your daily reminder that the IRS will launch a pilot of its first free tax online filing tool in a matter of weeks.

Intuit spent $3.8 MILLION in the past year alone to stop this from happening.
We didn’t let them win.
@shahaoul@biblioracle I suspect that's true. Also, you get better results from AI when you know what kinds of questions to ask. Finally, you have to take the outputs and shape them into a final product that is polished. And that takes skill.
@biblioracle That's an interesting thought. It runs slightly counter to the results of this study https://t.co/HtjFykIkDZ where the greatest benefits were seen among the least skilled. But quality remains an issue, and time savings are pretty scattered.

@JohnProtevi This is a great point. As chair of a department at a community college, I can tell you that it's endlessly frustrating to read publications in philosophy pedagogy with elaborate plans for weeding out chatbot usage when we are teaching over 150 students a semester.
