Data centers haven’t been raising residential bills.

The sharpest increases are found in states that have pursued the country’s most aggressive climate policies, not those with the most data centers.

California, with some of the nation’s fastest-rising electricity rates, has seen relatively modest data-center growth. Virginia, where data centers consume more than a fifth of the state’s electricity, has experienced price increases near the national average.

An American fire chief will show up at a public meeting proposing the right photo & tell you it’s an unacceptable public safety hazard.

That the trees impede fire response. As does that bike lane. The bus lane will cause an increase in response times & untold deaths, despite being able to be used as an emergency lane. The space to do all this likely means narrower lanes, which is also unacceptable. (While safer for the public they are irritating when driving a 102” wide truck very fast).

The fire death stats for each street will be the same. The road deaths will be greater on the left version, but those don’t count in life safety. Nor do any other benefits, since those aren’t fire-related.
