@n_hold Major name in 90s/00s Anthropology, one of the co-editors of the incredible “Culture, Power, History” series from Princeton University Press, and also has a terrible tenure as chancellor of UC Berkeley from 2013-2017 where he called the cops on students and generally sucked

@matthiasellis His stuff gets less interesting to me following that book. Like, he went off in some weird directions. I wish he’d had a community of historical materialists around him to keep him focused!
@n_hold I’m a little younger than you and I envy how /social/ that all sounds! So much of my early music experience was swapping tapes with a few friends, often recorded off of the radio, that we listened to on our walkmen. I went to see Less Than Jake at a record store when I was 10 :)
