After spending a few hours to figure out a unsatisfactory
mechanism to remove emojis from a string, I discovered that NSStringTransforms have a syntax that perform wonderful things.

So simple:
[aString stringByApplyingTransform: @"[:emoji:] remove" reverse:NO]
