“Enthusiasm brings on Excitement
Excitement then produces Energy
Energy generates Extra Effort
Extra Effort develops Excellence.”

Arrive early and energized - Discipline #1 in our booklet, The 10 Disciplines
Coaches … become an expert in practice planning. An efficient, high energy practice is far more important than any game. Practice is where skill, confidence and teams are built – games just give you a chance to measure yourself against your own potential.
The only guarantee during any season is that there will be problems. Building an intentional team culture is not about making everyone happy. It is much more valuable than that. It is about providing a high trust place where difficult problems get solved together.
I loved coaching “Tough” players - some of their traits...
T - Team first - pushes self to be the best possible for the team
O - Open to being coached - Optimistic about getting better
U - Unselfish - embraces a role to help the team
G - Grateful
H - Honest with self and others
Setting high standards is not enough. Teach your athletes how to reach them by defining clearly, modeling so they can see what it looks like, confront incorrect behavior because you care about the team and the athlete and reward the behaviors that align with the standards.
