Peter Mandleson (long term favourite of Labour Prime Ministers Blair, Brown and Starmer and former close pal of paedophile sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein) wrote gushing notes to Epstein during their friendship. In an email bemoaning Epstein's conviction and prison sentence he said:-

“I can still barely understand it. It just could not happen in Britain”.

Just to be clear - he was referring to the prosecution and imprisonment of his pal. And he wasn’t wrong was he? Because government statistics show an over 96% likelihood that Epstein and others like him wouldn't get prosecuted in Britain. Probably not then - and almost certainly not now.

For decades the British criminal justice system appears to have developed an allergic reaction to prosecuting or imprisoning rapists and child sex abusers/traffickers. In particular, there appears to have been a slow but determined march towards minimising the criminal severity and moral abhorrence of child sexual abuse.

Judges comments (which usually precede a paedophile walking free from court with a community sentence) highlight their “previously good character”, their poor mental health and their newly acquired remorse. The narrative has increasingly become that the CSA offender is “A good person who was having a bad time and made a mistake”. It is therefore reasonable to suggest that handing down community or suspended sentences to CSA image offenders is contributing to a reconfiguration of our society’s moral compass.

Through the combination of lenient sentences and sympathetic sentencing comments, CSA offences are gradually being redefined as sexual kinks or experimentation, or something that people only turn to when they are themselves vulnerable and having problems. It’s therefore not a stretch to expect societal values about CSA to change over time in accordance with this.

Let’s also consider the PIE inspired push to call paedophiles ��Minor Attracted Persons’ so that it is “less stigmatising” or to describe it as a sexual identity or orientation. There have even been calls by some for paedophiles to be classified as a minority group due to the stigmatisation they face - can you imagine the increase in hate crime reports if that ever came to pass (remember Kellie-Jay Keen’s visit from police for being 'untoward towards paedophiles')?

Society being able to verbally insult, criticise sex offenders, or even to exclude them from social circles is the ONLY OPTION legally available to those of us who feel that child sex offenders should damn well be punished. That they SHOULD face criminal consequence, that we SHOULD be able to insult or exclude these predators in the absence of effective criminal consequences. And NO - we don’t want to show sympathy or understanding about the difficulties they may have faced - particularly not when the criminal justice system and courts appear to view the rights and feelings of the victims as little more than an inconvenient afterthought.

But this is New Britain isn't it, where the rights and welfare of those who freely harm others takes first place on the podium of political and institutional priorities.

A Britain in which progressiveness and inclusivity must ALWAYS come first - even if it comes at the cost of truth, morality and safety.

In light of recent revelations we now have to wonder exactly how much influence Epstein wielded through his friendship with Mandleson (and by default Blair, Brown and Starmer due to their links to Mandleson), in reconfiguring Britain’s moral compass?

Particularly when it comes to sexual abuse of children.

Today is St. Dwynwen’s Day, Wales's very own celebration of love, romance, and heartfelt connections, often called the Welsh equivalent of Valentine's Day! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿💕
Every January 25th, people across Wales (and beyond) honour Santes Dwynwen, the patron saint of lovers, by exchanging cards, gifts, thoughtful messages, and spending quality time with partners, friends, and family. It's a beautiful occasion to express affection in meaningful ways.

The story of St. Dwynwen dates back to the 5th century. Dwynwen, a Welsh princess and one of the 24 daughters of King Brychan Brycheiniog (in the Brecon Beacons region), fell deeply in love with Prince Maelon Dafodrull. Tragically, her father forbade the marriage (or arranged for her to marry another in some tellings). Heartbroken, Dwynwen fled to the woods and prayed for relief from her pain. An angel appeared, granting her three wishes: to free Maelon from being turned to ice (in one poignant version of the legend), to remain unmarried herself, and to become the protector of all true lovers.
She then devoted her life to God, founding a convent as a nun on the serene Ynys Llanddwyn (Llanddwyn Island) off Anglesey, where she helped the heartbroken, the sick, and even animals with her knowledge of herbal medicine.

Over the centuries, her legacy wove into Welsh culture. In the 11th century, the Mabinogion compiled ancient tales rich with themes of courtly love, jealousy, and romance, some of Europe's earliest chivalric stories. By the 17th century, the tradition of Welsh love spoons emerged: young men carved intricate wooden spoons as romantic tokens, adorned with symbols like hearts for love, chains for loyalty, bells for upcoming weddings, wheels for support, and more, showcasing skilled craftsmanship and deep sentiment.
The 18th century saw romantic Welsh poetry flourish, with poets like Goronwy Owen and later figures such as Dafydd ap Gwilym capturing the joys and sorrows of love, drawing inspiration from legends like Dwynwen's and helping shape a distinct literary tradition.
Though the holiday's roots blend ancient Celtic mysticism (sacred wells, divination through nature) with Christian traditions, it faded somewhat after the Reformation. In the 20th and 21st centuries, however, St. Dwynwen’s Day enjoyed a wonderful revival, sparked in the 1960s by initiatives like Welsh-language Valentine's cards from Bangor University students, gaining momentum through media, businesses, and councils. Today, it thrives with modern touches: romantic dinners, poetry readings, concerts, and even singles events, while staying true to its compassionate, heartfelt spirit.

On Llanddwyn Island, pilgrims once visited Dwynwen's holy well, where sacred eels or bubbling waters foretold lovers' futures, a magical blend of nature and romance that still captivates visitors today.

Erfan Soltani is scheduled to be executed by hanging in Iran in 48 hours.

He was arrested in Karaj on January 9 for taking part in the protests. His family was given just 10 minutes to say goodbye. No lawyer. No fair trial. Days later, the Islamic regime sentenced him to death.

Reports now warn the regime is preparing public hangings to terrorize the population. More than 10,000 protesters have been arrested since the start of the 2026 uprising. Many could face the same fate.

The only thing this regime fears is global scrutiny.

Mmmm. Very pretty & professional looking, I’ll admit…

I’ll also admit I wasn’t instrumental in LGB activism, like Bev Jackson, Kate Harris or Fred Sargeant, but, if I may, I’d like to correct the multitude of errors that litter this statement (again, very pretty, all typed out neatly, by Miffy The Whiffy Gamer… either from some bot or his imagination)

But let’s get a few facts straight, shall we?

I’ve been a vocally out gay actor since 1990. In those days, if you were gay, & open about it, you were only cast in gay parts. And it was bloody difficult.

I worked for The London Gay Theatre Company in 1992 & 1994. I was in many different LGB plays throughout the 90’s, & was interviewed & spoke about being “openly gay” with Gay Times, Attitude, The Pink Paper & many other gay publications. In every interview I gave, it was mentioned (much to my eventual boredom & to the irritation of the gay press, who seemed to be frustrated at me for not believing that being gay was the most interesting thing about me.)

In 1993, I was part of the West End cast of “Elegies for Angels, Punks & Raging Queens”, alongside Regina Fong, Simon Fanshawe, Trudie Styler, Kim Cresswell & many others. The show was about those who’d died from AIDS, & every night, we raised a significant amount of money for AIDS charities. We also all performed on the main stage at Pride that year.

In 1994, I was in New York during the Gay Games, where I made a film about lesbian ice skating, which we shot on location. I marched with Ian Mckellen (who was also in the film) & Martin Sherman, to celebrate the Games.

In 1996, myself & 6 other openly gay actors were part of a successful little indie film called “Boyfriends”. Again, we all vocally supported gay rights in various interviews.

In 1997, Stonewall invited me to their Equality Show at the Albert Hall, to high kick with the Tiller Girls, as part of a small group of out performers, including Stephen Fry, Jimmy Somerville, Simon Fanshawe, to encourage others to come out & be proud. Yes, we were actually “celebrated” by Stonewall back then, believe it or not.

In 1999, I played a controversial, purposefully vile gay character in Jonathan Harvey’s sitcom ‘Gimme Gimme Gimme’. It was controversial because it was one of the first gay characters that was entirely comfortable with his sexuality, was vulgarly open about it & wasn’t always portrayed in a positive light. The gay press were not happy, initially, but it apparently grew on them. The series continued until 2001. Again, I did interview after interview discussing & championing gay rights.

In 2000, I played Bette Midler’s ‘openly gay’ musical accompanist, Oscar, in the short lived sitcom ‘Bette’. Being a series regular, I used my voice in interviews to speak up for gay rights.

In 2004, I took part in the first series of Gordon Ramsey’s Hell’s Kitchen, raising £40, 000 for my chosen charity The Terence Higgins Trust, which I publicly supported & endorsed endlessly.

Do bear in mind, there was no social media as we know it now.

I joined Twitter in 2014. From 2000 to 2014, LGB people had achieved equality & for the first time, it seemed to be ok to be gay.

I rejoined the fight online when I saw the damage the TQ+ was now was doing to the rights we’d, as gay people, had already won, at much cost. I was reluctant & angry, as I’d thought we’d been there, done that, bought the t-shirt etc. But no.

So if you mean I played no part in the fight for LGB rights, you’d either be wrong or lying. The world didn’t start with the advent of the internet.

Perhaps if I stuck on a red beret, a dress, held an Antifa flag & hollered at a crowd through a megaphone to “punch terfs in the f**king face”, I’d already be lauded as a “champion of LGBTQIA+ rights”.

Maybe that was my mistake…🤷

Wild London David Attenborough
I'm getting so many posts from lovely people absolutely outraged at the misinformation regarding hedgehogs and slugs presented on this show yesterday, so I'll just address it here.
David Attenbourough is a really lovely man, and has done an immense amount of good for us, our wildlife, and our planet.
But he, like any other TV presenter, relies on programme researchers for script content.
The researchers, in turn, rely on who they *perceive to be* experts in the field.
Unfortunately, they were taken in by some clever branding and chose the wrong people:
A self-proclaimed 'hedgehog expert', often funded by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society (see their most recent dangerous misinformation, and my response, published here:https://t.co/YWqTd4PIkv)
And the London Wildlife Trust.
Recently the London Wildlife Trust engaged me as an expert consultant on a 4 page spread article about hedgehog myths.
Many of you have seen my interview, and the draft of the subsequent article.
I was sent this draft (see 1st image below) for approval, to which I agreed.
However, before going to print, an executive at London Wildlife trust decided to do some editing of his own.
It's shocking, I know, and would be unbelievable, if not here in actual print.
I've included two versions of the full article below:
the first draft approved by me and the team at LWT, and the second actual printed version, after executive 'editing'.
It was this same London Wildlife Trust who co-produced the Wild London documentary and "provided expert help and advice".
So now you know.
We're all shocked.
But of course, as usual, it's the poor hedgehogs who will suffer.
People won't provide food for our critically endangered hedgehogs, or bother keeping their garden natural and wild, now they've been told that hedgehogs eat slugs.
After all, there's plenty of them to go round.
Rescues all around the country, who are treating hedgehogs dying of lungworm from being forced through starvation into eating slugs, will feel so demoralised and invalidated.
Like you, I'm furious, frustrated, and bone-wearily saddened.
