We finally know the story behind the famous Ryland Grace Polaroid photo!

In a recent thread, Project Hail Mary director Christopher Miller shared new behind-the-scenes photos and revealed that the image used in the movie was actually a Photoshop composite of two phone photos he took during production, later adjusted to look more like a real Polaroid.

Ryan Gosling was holding a blank Polaroid on set. The final image was integrated into the movie by the VFX team.

Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him.

I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.

@bobfloydsbf I will be starting mine soon. I've been practicing all the stitches. I'm a little unsure of going from the 2x2 rib stitch into the main part of the cardigan but I'm invested now. The Mary Maxim instructions are not beginner friendly.

@wolfyaltwitch I've never knitted before in my life. This is 2x2 knit ribbing that I made yesterday. This is the pattern on the bottom of the cardigan.

@wolfyaltwitch I've spent the past few days watching YouTube tutorials and I can now knit and purl so I've been practicing the stitches in the pattern and watching tutorials on how to do colorwork/fair isle stranding/intarsia. I am confident I can do it.
