@DrMLivingston That's why we have an old-style landline. And a generator for the VHF radio and satellite broadband router. We have no mobile reception around our farmhouse and it's patchy on many paddocks, and I'm the only doctor living/working here.
@EdgarMoose43433 @AMHoste @Dr_Done_ Maybe it is a competition though? The SHO is supposed to be joining elective lists/clinics as part of their urology term, ie why there are usually 2 SHOs doing the job. Instead they get all the admin scutwork and the PA goes to OT. How does the SHO learn?
@LiangRhea Yep, my (working class Londoner) grandmother was adamant wet hair to bed would give you a cold/pneumonia, depending on how dramatic she was feeling. Leaving the house with wet hair was also very dangerous.
Fucking horrifying. We aren't the lucky country, we aren't friendly. We're a pack of easily manipulated ignorant dickheads who'd rather listen to xenophobes and bigots than the world's oldest, and proudest continuous culture. I am bitterly ashamed of my country.

@chesucram@shop_w_virginia@DailyLoud She has a low waist to hip ratio (small waist, big hips), which is associated with lower health risk.
But I'm sure she's still grateful for your misinformed concern for her health...
@byronkaye I grew up in urban Perth in the 80s, admittedly small hippy school, I never knew it was a thing. But definitely have met heaps of Nutbush-dancing Australians over the years since! They're everywhere.
@Gas_Air_CCdoc And year 7-12 they're away at boarding school #ruralGP Yet I can't get time off in school holidays. I didn't expect to lose my kids aged 11, just part of this job.
One of the nurses reminded me not to overcommit to extra shifts at work because you only have 18 summers with your kids before they are adults and the first 4 they won’t remember.
@Fantey123@DoverMarian @JacquiLambie @RACGPPresident Yes. Just in terms of doctor costs (contractor, don't own practice, like most GPs) indemnity insurance has about doubled (waiting for quote, but maybe $14000, previously $7500). RACGP and AMA fee also up substantially.
Basically trying to get through year.
