International long snapper Dan Wan made the trip from Hong Kong, China to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to chase perfection!

Dan has exhausted his college eligibility and is now back home in China playing for the Combat Orcas, but his drive to improve hasn’t slowed down. Dan and I have been working together for 7 years now and it’s been awesome watching him continue to level up year after year.

When we broke down his technique, we noticed his arms were struggling to consistently get to their landmarks because his stance was too narrow. Everyone’s frame is different, and when you’re built shorter with thicker legs, you sometimes need a wider base than “normal” to move efficiently and get to consistent positions.

Once we widened him out, everything started cleaning up immediately. He was able to get to his end position with a lot more ease and control. From there, we focused heavily on flow and acceleration to help him stay crisp and throw his best ball consistently.

After that, we dove into his footwork. Dan kept stepping incorrectly when moving to his left, which was throwing off his timing and balance. We gave him better movement cues and some tools to help train those patterns into his body naturally.

Dan did a great job attacking the details and I’m excited to continue helping him chase perfection!

.@snap_with_dan made the trip back to Eau Claire Wisconsin all the way from China! 🇨🇳

Dan and I have been working together for a few years. From his time at IMG Academy, to JUCO, D2, and D1 football he has continued to grow as a snapper. He’s embraced the struggle and has been extremely detailed oriented. It’s been great to see him continue to realize how to make his snaps better and better.

During these sessions we focused on getting him to create better flow with his body. He was getting a little too quick with his hands to try and block faster. This was causing him some issues with wobbly balls, slower speeds, and a slower transition.

After going through many drills focused on his breathing, his sequence, and his mentality, we definitely saw some changes!

I’m looking forward to continuing to help Dan chase perfection!
