Most movies have sounds that can’t be captured clearly during shooting and have to be added later during sound editing.
Three Main Categories:
1.Footsteps
2.Movement (clothing, body)
3.Specific props
Foley (creating sounds for film) is such an interesting art form/skill/job
Instead of relying on a prerecording of a sound effect, foley involves generating suitable sounds
in sync with the action on screen,
and adding that to the audio soundtrack. Very cool.
@NoContextHumans A bigger conundrum:
mirrors will invert writing Left/right …
But not up/down.
How does it know which direction is up/down or left/right ?
😂
@LightStalking I’ve always encouraged my students to come up with a “rainy day” list of locations to explore. For any genre - landscape, street photography, even portraiture.
Rain/mist/fog/wind …brings out a whole range of unique visual features:
reflections, movement, colours and moods.
@_LiminalCryptid @volcaholic1 I’m not agreeing or disagreeing on the authenticity of this imagery… but lens flare is standard fare in realistic looking CGI.

@Turbinetraveler I blame the gardener. If he had just cut the grass a little shorter that last roll would have worked out fine.
Could have been High fives and vodkas all around.

@LesScottWebb@invertedworld9 The logic is very simple:
Sun is very bright round object.
For very thin clouds- it punches right through and you see full circle. (Can give the illusion that the cloud is behind the sun)
For thicker clouds - full circle may be obscured.

@alxperez@zielinskiwoj I had a plugin for photoshop 5 that turned text and buttons into glass like this. That was in 1999 or 2000.
Can’t remember the name - maybe Eyecandy (?)
@DudespostingWs This is a dumb “trick” that will have all those people who picked 8 or 17 totally amazed and baffled. (Except for those who understand statistics).
Me? I picked 11. But I’m going to play the vid again and this time pick a new number … see if that comes up.
😂
@Clearstory3D@replicate@bfl_ml@Magnific_AI Ai driven photo “restoration” seems great on surface level examination…
but it often distorts faces and expressions. This can wipe out personality/history - in exchange for a bland Ai interpretation.
@latestinspace To everyone in the comments saying “this is just a water landing”…
So?
Don’t forget that the next step is:
capture using giant chopsticks.
Im thinking they got this.
