Came across this photo on my social media feed. The grim irony is in the flag: «Za мир» - “for peace” - with the Cyrillic «з» deliberately replaced by the Latin Z, the symbol adopted for Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

Children posing with replica weapons beneath a slogan proclaiming “peace” are a striking illustration of how Russia’s war propaganda has been normalised and embedded in schools - indoctrinating the next generation to see militarism as ordinary and to accept that their fate may be to serve as cannon fodder in Putin’s endless wars.
