A female leopard has died an agonising death after becoming trapped in a snare. Meanwhile, the reserve is reportedly contemplating euthanising cheetahs that escape the reserve, and even culling elephants.

What on earth is going on at Dinokeng?

Our precious wildlife is paying the price for what increasingly looks like incompetence, poor management and internal infighting.

In court, it was heard that Bradley from Doagh near #ballyclare punched the puppy in the face, strangled him and threw him across a room while shouting abuse. The pup “screeched” in pain during the attack.

Miraculously, the puppy was uninjured, and he is now being cared for by Bradley’s former partner.

The incident, which took place in March 2024, was captured on video and shown in court. The judge described Bradley’s actions as “quite appalling” and warned that this level of cruelty is a red flag for future violence.

Bradley received a six‑month prison sentence, suspended for three years, and was banned from keeping animals for FIVE years.

💔 This case shows again how lightly animal cruelty is punished — and how many offenders walk free despite violent acts against defenceless animals.

Asylum Seeker Claiming to Be a RICA Agent Arrested After Western Cape Police Seize More Than 3,000 SIM Cards and Eight Cellphones During Delft Raid

Western Cape police have arrested a 38-year-old man after discovering thousands of SIM cards and several cellphones at a residence in Delft. The suspect is expected to make his first appearance in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court following his arrest during an operation linked to a hijacking investigation conducted on Tuesday, 4 August 2026.

The arrest was carried out by SAPS Crime Intelligence and Flying Squad members during a tracing operation for a hijacking case. Information led officers to a house on Cedar Street in Delft, where they found the suspect in possession of 725 MTN SIM cards, 662 Telkom SIM cards, 1,119 Cell C SIM cards, and 552 Vodacom SIM cards.

When questioned by police, the suspect, who is an asylum seeker, claimed to be a RICA agent. However, he was unable to produce any documentation to support his claim. Police arrested him for allegedly contravening the Regulation of Interception of Communications Act 70 of 2002 and also seized eight cellphones found at the property together with the SIM cards.

The 38-year-old suspect is due to appear before the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on charges relating to the alleged contravention of the Regulation of Interception of Communications Act. Police have confirmed that the SIM cards and eight cellphones were seized as part of the investigation following the operation in Delft.

A truck driver was hijacked and kidnapped on the road between Frankfort/Vredefort and Standerton in the Free State last week.

Three suspects tied his hands and legs with wire and held him captive at a farm about 20km from Standerton.

The truck owner believes the suspects were targeting the soya load.

Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) regional members received a complaint from security guards who were working the night shift at a graveyard about people digging up graves.

The officers responded swiftly and rushed to the graveyard. Upon arrival, they found three people inside the grave, busy digging. When the three suspects were questioned, they could not account for what they were doing and where they got the permission to dig up the graves.

Among the three suspects was a Sangoma. They were allegedly looking for dead people’s bones for muti purposes. The suspects tried to offer a bribe of R1 500. They were then arrested for violation of graveyard regulations, malicious damage to property and bribery.

Well done to the TMPD members! The TMPD will continue to combat crime in Tshwane.

A San Diego family says surveillance cameras captured a mail carrier repeatedly pepper spraying their tiny dog, Pupa — allegedly 11 times over the course of a month.

ELEVEN TIMES.

According to the family, they contacted both police and the U.S. Postal Service after discovering the footage.

Look at that little dog. If you genuinely believe an animal is a threat, there are procedures for handling it. But repeatedly spraying a small dog over multiple encounters? That deserves a serious investigation.

Animals depend on us to protect them. They can't tell us when someone is hurting them when we're not around.
