Post Covid 19 lockdown, many wrote obituaries on film industry expressing their concerns on people not returning back to cinemas as most movies were making way for OTT platforms and there were few takers in theatres.

This Independence Day, Indians spend INR 140 crore(highest ever) in watching 3 movies:- Gadar 2, OMG 2, and Jailer. People flocked to theatres like never before, to watch their favourite superstars in action. Sunny Deol at an age of 65 Years and Rajnikanth at age of 72 years created mass hysteria at the cinemas leaving trade pundits on splits. More than the script of the movie, its the experience of watching a mass action entertainer in a single-screen theatre, is drawing most crowds to cinemas once again, just like the 90’s. As the saying goes The Comeback is always bigger than the Setback.

Discretionary Spending in India will go through the roof, new records will be consistently broken. Be it Restaurants, Malls, Theatres, Stadiums, everything will be "HOUSEFULL". The consumption capability of Indians shouldn't be underestimated.

This decade for India has "BLOCKBUSTER" written all over it 👑
