update. this brand is coming up on 550 active subscriptions.
share your losses. 0 sales in the first 7 days. i guarantee thousands of people saw this tweet and thought this brand was never going to work.
the roi on this tweet was unfathomable. i made so many connections, jumped on free calls with multiple 8 figure+ guys for free, and have been in contact with many of them since. share your losses and be an open book. that's how you build genuine connections on this app. i'm still a little fish, but i cant wait to pay it forward one day and help others exactly as others have helped me.
Exciting update. We've reached over 500 subscribers on this brand. It isn't much, but certainly an exciting update since this last tweet.
Here are the biggest levers that have unlocked this scale thus far:
1. Retention is just as important as new customer acquisition. I spent over a year focusing on the utility of the product. I put the product first, and it will pay off in the long run. It's important to micro-analyze every single moment within the customer's journey. For example, if your shipping takes 14 days, don't say your shipping is 7-10 days. This will negatively affect the customer's perception of your brand and their LTV with you. Next is unboxing. Once they receive the package how does it arrive? Is there a thank you note? Is the unboxing process a unique experience that will make a lasting impression on them? These things matter. This is how you build actual value in a brand. No one wants to buy a brand with high churn.
2. Omni-channel presence. We started off with meta on this brand. We couldn't crack it, and we are still working on cracking it with creative diversity, new landing pages, offers, etc. Snapchat has been a huge channel for this brand. We are currently omnichannel with google, snapchat, tik tok, meta, and exploring native ads now. Multiple touch points are important, especially for a subscription brand. People are essentially signing a contract when they buy with you. Having a presence amongst all platforms will solidify their trust.
3. Creative volume has been important. 20-30 creatives per week. Especially with Snapchat and $2-3 cpm's, these creatives fatigue in 2 weeks. Although volume has been important, my next focus is pulling back on volume, and focusing more on more customer research and new angles targeting new customer avatars. Volume is useless if you're just iterating on the same winners.
To anyone building a brand. Do not give up. You need to have different expectations than you would with a dropshipping store. This niche is much harder. This isn't OTP, customers are committing to a subscription, and to do so they must trust your brand in every facet. You need to beg others for brutal feedback. The more brutal the better. Put your ego aside. Whether it's others in the space, friends, significant others, or anyone else. Take them through your landing pages and funnels and have them point out every single bottleneck that would make them skeptical. This is extremely underrated. Keep pushing.
Tunnel vision to the next goal. This is adding 500 subscribers per month in 2025.
