Besides reading materials, @jewishmuseummd's new Lombard & Lloyd Library offers such free resources as KN95 face masks and health supplies for the neighborhood. https://t.co/mylNTTOakW
A.P. Hill was shot and killed by U.S. troops from the 138th Pennsylvania Infantry #OTD in 1865. The action occurred during the Third Battle of @PetersburgNPS, a resounding U.S. victory. Strangely, the @USArmy decided to name @Fort_APHill after Hill. #ConfederateHeritageMonth 🧵
Outstanding and compelling Civil War reading with #LincolnPrize winners and finalists! All highly recommended!
@AndrewFLang Allen Guelzo and James Oakes—what a lineup of scholars!
#OTD in 1970, the Oregon Highway Division consulted with the U.S. Navy and decided the best way to dispose of a whale carcass was to blow it up with a 1/2 ton of dynamite. The explosion caused blubber to rain down on spectators for over a 1/4 of a mile. The TV segment is classic.
@nychicksinger @kevzennelzen @patriottakes Please tell me where! I want to do a PhD on 19th century historical memory and I can easily incorporate that around African American studies. I’d happily alter a little of my degree study for a full ride!
@AdamHDomby Not really a TV show or a historian by trade, but I’d argue Conan O’Brian since he did graduate from Harvard with a History degree and is a well known TV personality
@chriscmartell In first grade, number 9 “Learn how to display and dispose of the American flag and why it deserves Americans’ respect.” I still have my papers from first grade and we were just learning about what a neighborhood was and what money is, let alone abstract concepts like this
