Yesterday the @chiefs visited the White House. They stood as teammates, & a portrait of a diverse locker room. Exactly what they displayed after Harrison Butker’s commencement speech.

Those who oppose Butker hoped teammates saw his speech as conservative rhetoric costumed in cap & gown. Also, discriminatory & misogynistic opinion cloaked in Catholicism, or prayed they’d recite bible verses expressing God’s love for all. Reiterating that EVEN WOMEN can do all things through Christ. That’s not how locker rooms work though, & truthfully the Chiefs know that Butker is nowhere near the worst among them.

He’s earned his right to play, is free to speak, entitled to his opinion, and worthy of grace if you disagree with him. It’s our job to search for the Christ in him as we show the Christ in us.
