A man has been shot dead during a police pursuit in Ramokonopi near
Katlehong,
East Rand.

According to information, the deceased was travelling with three passengers at around 04:00 after dropping off a friend in Zonkizizwe when police allegedly began pursuing the vehicle.

Members from Zonkizizwe SAPS, Ramokonopi SAPS, and Vosloorus SAPS are believed to have been involved in the chase, during which multiple shots were reportedly fired using high-calibre firearms and 9mm pistols.

The deceased sustained a gunshot wound and later died.

Two female passengers escaped unharmed.

The incident is under investigation, with IPID expected to probe the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
