@fign3wtons If you knew that people were talking about you this toxically about you online for YEARS while also spreading fake tweets to make the situation worse, would you simply ignore it? “You can just log off” doesn’t work when the world is so ingratiated with the internet.
I do not think turning someone into a lolcow over racism from when they were a teenager is a productive idea that will work to prevent racism, actually
She’s just gonna have to learn how to take a joke . I hate when ppl who say racist shit online when they’re old enough to know it’s wrong can’t handle the slightest amount of pressure it’s called the consequences of your actions. If you’re sorry you’ll take the lashings .
@fign3wtons On a functional level, constantly dogpiling someone who is putting in the work to better themselves isn’t going to incentivize better behavior in themselves nor society — it’s incentivizing regression since nothing that she can do will be enough.
@fign3wtons I’m not ignoring shit. What is haranguing someone over behavior they committed as a teenager, apologized for, and haven’t committed in over a decade going to do? Again: difference between “talking” and people using that to justify being misogynistic and transphobic towards her.
@fign3wtons the Normani tweets are not verifiable — slayyyter said they were fake while acknowledging the other racist tweets — and I constantly feel sympathy for what Normani went through.
two wrongs don’t make a right.
Casual but never unconsidered, Sophia Stel's porous blend of pop, trip-hop, and hip-hop evokes late-night group hangs and intense body highs

anyways I hope people start putting energy into supporting black artists instead the alternative music space at some point instead of like constantly what feels like performatively calling out white artists and then never engaging with black art outside of a surface level.
If we don’t let people who are genuinely remorseful for falling for propaganda evolve and reintegrate into society, you’re ultimately letting white supremacy win by not allowing people to be cured of their racism. It’s how being in a society works.
speaking as a Black person who went to a white public school: I’m gonna be so real I automatically assume every white artist I listen to was racist as an adolescent solely because of how insidious white supremacy is and how it preys upon the youth of all races within society
people of color are the main victims of racism. it also fucks up white people by making them fearful idiots and that shit is going to haunt them when they awaken from the shackles of white supremacy. Its effect on white people isn’t worse than racism — it’s still fucking bad.
